I can’t tell you how many times we have heard unexpected news in doctor’s offices about Lily.  She is an overcomer and a fighter.  Like light that slips through the crack of a door into a darkened room, hope seeps into my heart and soul. To not hope, to not trust, to not believe simply isn’t an option for me.

We didn’t get the greatest news.  Last week I shared about Lily’s upcoming cardiology appointment.  If you missed it, you can read it here.  Lily has dealt with a lot of medical issues.  She has had several major surgeries.   However, she has never had any issues with her heart.   In the last month, she has had 2 episodes of SVT (rapid heart rate) that have required trips to the ER, so this appointment was to find out what was going on.

Lily will most likely have a heart ablation and that will correct the SVT, so that part’s ok I guess. Ablations are done every single day at the children’s hospital.  It is a fairly common surgery and is also outpatient, which is nice.  I have had several people ask, so here is the definition I found for what a heart ablation is:  “Cardiac ablation is a procedure that is used to scar small areas in your heart that may be involved in your heart rhythm problems. This can prevent the abnormal electrical signals or rhythms from moving through the heart.”

Now to the unexpected part…during the echocardiogram they discovered that Lily has coarctation of the aorta, so she will be having further testing to see about treatment options (open heart surgery is a possibility). While I’m thankful this has been revealed, so we can take care of it, I also hate that Lily has to go through something else.

I have had the song “You’re Not Finished Yet” on my mind a lot lately and I can’t help, but think how much it pertains to Lily.

“I won’t forget the things You’ve done
For I know that this is just the beginning
And You’re not finished yet, You’re not finished yet
Until I see Your promise come
God with all I am, I’ll keep believing
That You’re not finished yet, You’re not finished yet”

Thank you all for the prayers & please keep them coming.   I stand on this: “There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish.#ExpectGod
